Materials and Care
How Printed Layer 3D printed charms are made, how durable they are, and how to keep them looking great.
What we print in
Printed Layer currently prints on Bambu Lab X1C, P1S, and H2C machines and primarily uses Bambu Lab PLA for most orders.
Sunlu Black PETG is used for specific utility items, like the Milwaukee charger wall mount.
Printed Layer products are printed in PLA, a plant-based 3D printing plastic commonly used for personalized accessories and decorative parts.
PLA is lightweight, sturdy for everyday bag use, and a practical material for made-to-order charms in many colors.
Need a precise color reference? See the Bambu PLA Basic Hex Code chart (PDF). On finished parts, perceived color can shift slightly with layer height, finish, and lighting.
Durability expectations
For normal daily use, charms hold up well through sports travel, errands, beach days, and regular bag handling.
Heat is the main thing to avoid. Extended exposure above about 140°F can soften PLA, so avoid leaving charms in a hot vehicle.
Care instructions
- Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Avoid long soaks in chlorinated or salt water.
- Do not leave in a closed hot car.
- Store out of direct sun between trips when possible.
Safety guidance
PLA is widely used in consumer 3D printing and is non-toxic in normal accessory use.
Charms are small accessories and are not intended for children under 3 due to small-part risk.
Repair and replacement
If a charm breaks under normal use, send a photo and your Etsy order number through Contact so support options can be reviewed quickly.
